History of the Facility

The USBA began its primary operations at the current facility in 1997. The original working name was the National Basketball Academy until Bruce O’Neil, owner, and the late Wilt Chamberlin had a discussion sitting on a tree stump on the current property. They decided to replace National with United States and the USBA was born. The organization was primarily formed to build a basketball camp on 46 acres of prime recreation property along the McKenzie River (USBA website).
