Dates

The 2023 Annual Meeting, hosted by Emerald Chapter, will be held Friday, June 2, through Sunday, June 4, 2023 in Eugene, Oregon.

Theme

This year the theme of the NPSO Annual Meeting will be "Botany in the Age of Community Science". Activities throughout the weekend will address collection of data by NPSO members including field trips on how to collect and use information in iNaturalist, data collection in an iNaturalist Project for all field trip participants, and banquet presentations on how your data is used by professional taxonomists and botanists. For more information click here.

Schedule

Annual Meeting events are scheduled for Friday afternoon and evening, all day Saturday, and Sunday morning. Click the Schedule link for full details.

Venues

The venue for Saturday's Banquet is Venue 252 in Eugene, Oregon. A Friday evening social mixer will be held at nearby WildCraft Cider Works. Click the Venues link for detailed information about the facilities and amenities. Information about nearby restaurants and grocery stores, as well as lodging (motels, cabins, camp sites) is also provided. Note: Emerald Chapter encourages you to make reservations early as accomodations can fill up quickly for the summer season.

Field Trips

The Emerald Chapter is very excited to be offering 2023 Annual Meeting field trips to some of "our" favorite places in the southern Willamette Valley and nearby areas. We have 32 field trips planned Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Please see the Field Trips page for details.

Evening Programs

Saturday night's Banquet will feature speakers James Mickley and Ed Alverson. Both speakers will expand on the theme of this year's meeting: "Botany in the Age of Community Science". Click on the Evening Programs link for more details about the program and the speakers. Additional information can also be found there for Friday evenings social mixer.

Registration

Please read the Registration page carefully for details about registation requirements, fees, deadlines, and more. There are two ways to register - you may use the "Print and Mail" registration form (a downloadable PDF) or the Online registration form. Both are available as links near the bottom of the Registration page. The "Print and Mail" form must be printed, filled out, and mailed via USPS along with your payment check to the address provided on the form. Clicking on the online registration form link will bring up the form in your browser. Complete the five steps on the form in order. The final step (step 5) lets you choose to pay via Paypal, Venmo or credit/debit card. Emerald Chapter encourages you to register early - before May 1! Registration at increased cost will be available from May 1 to May 19.

Merchandise

Pick up great gifts for friends (or yourself!) at the Annual Meeting! There will be a variety of quality botanical and nature-related items available for sale Saturday evening at the banquet. We expect to have a couple of silent auctions for you to bid on items that a botanist might want to have. Click on the Merchandise link to learn more about what will be on offer. If you are interested in being a vendor, please click on Updates & Notices and read the VENDOR APPLICATIONS NOTICE posted on 1/3/2023 to find out how to sign up for space.
